If you think Japanese-made cameras are cheaper at the point of origin, you’ve got another think coming.* But with the tragic and untimely death of my beloved Canon Powershot way back in mid-December, the situation was becoming desperate. Being stuck in an exotic foreign country without a camera is like being stuck in Vegas without your credit card. So, three weeks ago, I ponied up for another shooter at the local Yamata Denke, and ever since, I’ve been busy trying to catch up on two camera-less months. No disrespect meant to my faithful Powershot, but my new Canon S3LS is one sweet rebound. So what if the user manual is all in Japanese…
